[Ryan Dahl Asks Oracle to Release the 'JavaScript' Trademark](https://tinyclouds.org/trademark) — It's in our small print, but did you know Oracle owns the 'JavaScript' trademark? This is why the standard is called _ECMAScript_ instead. It’s all down to Netscape’s deal with Sun Microsystems, which Oracle later acquired, and is infamously poorly defended (Brendan Eich suggested many years ago that he’s not sure it _could_ be defended.) So if you’ve got Larry Ellison’s phone number, see if he’ll do us all a solid 🙏

[An Overview of Node.js's Architecture, Event Loop, and Concurrency](https://2ality.com/2022/09/nodejs-overview.html) — Our favorite JavaScript-wielding doctor is writing a new book ([“Writing cross-platform shell scripts with Node.js”](https://buttondown.email/rauschma)) and we get to enjoy the byproducts of his labor including this succinct, but highly technical, overview of Node’s fundamental parts.

[Introducing Signals: A Reactive State Primitive That's Fast By Default](https://preactjs.com/blog/introducing-signals/) — Signals provide a reactive way of expressing state (in a very natural way that feels like using plain values) such that apps stay fast regardless of complexity. It’s aimed at Preact, the [slimmer alternative to React](https://preactjs.com/), but is possible to use with regular React by way of monkeypatching.

[Porting Tests from Cypress to Playwright with AI](https://contra.com/p/PWBcPYZc-rewriting-tests-from-cypress-to-playwright-using-gpt-3) — If switching libraries for your integration tests sounds boring but necessary, maybe AI could take away some of the strain? Gajus gave it a go with moderate success – a fun story.

[The Temporal API: A New Approach to Managing Date and Time?](https://refine.dev/blog/temporal-date-api/) — We’ve mentioned this a few times over the years (Dr. Axel [wrote this thorough guide](https://2ality.com/2021/06/temporal-api.html) in 2021) but it continues to merely be ‘in development’ with [no widespread support yet.](https://caniuse.com/temporal) There _is_ a polyfill, though, and it really is a handy API, so you might want to brush up on it.
