[Remix 3 Enters Beta — It's No Longer a React Framework](https://remix.run/blog/remix-3-beta-preview) — Remix has quite the back story. Created by the duo behind React Router in 2020 and seen as an [alternative to Next.js](https://bejamas.com/hub/guides/remix-vs-nextjs), Remix was [acquired by Shopify](https://techcrunch.com/2022/10/31/shopify-acquires-remix-to-bolster-its-storefront-design-tools/) in 2022 and its core ideas folded into [React Router v7](https://remix.run/blog/react-router-v7) in 2024. Now, a new direction: a full-stack, web standards-first framework with its own UI component model and… no React.

[Node.js 26.0.0 (Current) Released](https://nodejs.org/en/blog/release/v26.0.0) — A macOS build snafu pushed the release date out to today, but the latest version of Node is here, complete with [Temporal API](https://bloomberg.github.io/js-blog/post/temporal/) enabled by default, V8 14.6, and Undici 8. v26 is the ‘current’ cutting-edge release until October when it’ll be promoted to LTS.

**IN BRIEF:**

- [Vitest](https://vitest.dev/) is tightly coupled to Vite, but a maintainer has [proposed making it "framework-agnostic"](https://github.com/vitest-dev/vitest/discussions/10271) to support other build tools and runtimes.
- People on Hacker News [got very excited](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48016880) to discuss an effort by Bun's Jarred Sumner [to port Bun from Zig to Rust.](https://github.com/oven-sh/bun/commit/46d3bc29f270fa881dd5730ef1549e88407701a5) Jarred [turned up on the thread](https://news.ycombinator.com/item?id=48019226) to cool things down. A Rust port _is_ being attempted, but with no long-term intent to _switch_ for now.
- The Svelte team has [shared its latest monthly roundup](https://svelte.dev/blog/whats-new-in-svelte-may-2026), including the news that Svelte [appears in ThoughtWorks' latest _Technology Radar_.](https://www.thoughtworks.com/radar/languages-and-frameworks/summary/svelte)
- Deno is getting [experimental support for `import defer`](https://github.com/denoland/deno/pull/32360) ([TC39 proposal](https://github.com/tc39/proposal-defer-import-eval)) and may be the first runtime to support it.

**RELEASES:**

- [PM2 7.0](https://github.com/Unitech/pm2/releases/tag/v7.0.0) – The Node.js process manager gets a refactor that slashes its dependency footprint, and extends cluster mode and the monitoring agent to Bun apps.
- [Astro v7 Alpha](https://astro.build/blog/astro-620/#astro-v7-alpha) – The web framework for content-driven websites teases its Vite 8-based, Rust compiler-driven version, alongside its [v6.2 release](https://astro.build/blog/astro-620/).
- [Electron 41.5](https://github.com/electron/electron/releases/tag/v41.5.0) – The cross-platform desktop app framework adds support for Touch ID for WebAuthn on macOS.
- [Ember 6.12](https://blog.emberjs.com/ember-released-6-12/) – The final 6.x release in preparation for Ember 7.0.
- [ESLint 10.3](https://eslint.org/blog/2026/05/eslint-v10.3.0-released/), [Zod 4.4](https://github.com/colinhacks/zod/releases/tag/v4.4.0), [Babylon.js 9.5](https://github.com/BabylonJS/Babylon.js/releases/tag/9.5.0)
